Frankly speaking, I've never thought of spending my holiday with my cousins swimming in the pool xD cos back in the day, I usually spent my entire semester break playing badminton and improving my skills in digital drawing. But this semester break is totally totally a new one.
Moreover, I actually couldnt swim lol I remember drowning when I first started swimming in Kpg Ayer, I drank up hell lot of sea water and ended up throwing out in the toilet. I didnt have any basics in swimming, I couldnt think logically how human can actually float inside the water, and in the end, I got up being jealous seeing my other cousin swimming in front of me.
Sometimes I ask myself..
Am I the only human who cant swim?
I mean, everytime I look at my cousins and other pros, I started to ask myself:
-how do they swim that fast?
-how do mermaids swim really fast?
-humans dont have fins, let alone tails, but they could swim like they have turbine fans behind them?

So I got this idea of swimming last week cos my mom and dad didnt think that I could swim cos I have no basics, no coach or anything, they look down on me as if im worthless.. sad.
They end up saying "Since you are a total beginner, it is LITERALLY impossible to swim better ! it takes BLOODY YEARS !! MWAHAHAHA "
So this so-called "motivation" made my mind filled with contaminated horror of swimming.
And psychologically speaking, I end up losing my confidence when my cousins agreed to bring me to the local swimming pool.
But.
Things changed.
So before my cousins arrived the first day they were going to bring me swimming, I was about to refuse but I WAS DETERMINED to improve my swimming skills. I made my pre-advanced preparation by watching swimming videos on youtube. I started to watch all the techniques that involved swimming and the first guy I met on youtube was JimmyDShea xD
I started to learn terms like breast stroke, butterfly, dolphin kick, flutter kick front crawl, and the importance of hand and leg motions. SO i learned the drills, and its time to prove its degree of efficiency on myself =D *cos sometimes these drills dont make any sense as they worked on other peps, but not on us*
---- SWIMMING TIME -----
DAMNN !!
I didnt know swimming would be that difficult!
And all the drills, theories, techniques ALL GONE OUT OF MY MIND xD and I was a fucking idiot, I almost drowned xD
But good things, I have my cousins that taught me how to swim but they only show me how to do it, and its up to me to make it perfect on me. They also let me know whether I progress for the better or for the worse.
-FIRST DAY
I tried to make my body float but MY BODY SINKED !! xD Good thing I was standing on a 5 foot ground so I still could stand on my feet. I saw my cousins doing front crawl, floating while laying their back on the water while swimming in that pose, and I was the one who was still standing on the edge of the pool, trying to work out on my feet. Now I realized swimming is really difficult if I didnt have any basics.
But I didnt give up.
I started to question myself:
-How do people float?
-How to make the body stay straight parallel to the ground cos I tried and my legs would fall first and this made my whole body sunk like titanic.
-How does kicking help the body to go forward cos I tried and I remained stationary. I mean WHAT IS THE BLOODY THEORY BEHIND THE KICK (flutter kick)
-How to remain the body float while swimming? cos I tried moving forward but I ended up getting sunk down damn.
-How to perform effective arm movement during breast stroke cos my arms got fatigues easily and how does frog kick and flutter kick can be improved.
Despite these difficulties, I did something that was weird and I thought that I was actually pretty good at it --> DIVING. Damn right, I COULD DIVE MAN, cos I have a good stamina and I can move my body forward while using the breast stroke arm movement but the legs were rubbish xD
SECOND DAY.
I started watching videos on swimming, mastering the drills and applying during swimming. I slowly understand my weakness and I tried to remember the mistakes on the spot so that when I got back I would recall back my weakness and tried to get it resolved. My diving got better as I can move forward by using the arm movement in breast stroke as taught by JImmyDShea. His magic words during breast stroke arm movement "Collect the water on your ribs, not only using the hands but use THE WHOLE ARM, the give it to something in front of you" and it worked like WOW ! But I still didnt understand how the "act of giving" give more power cos logically, the "giving" would push my body backward, wouldnt it?
I started to improve my flutter kick by kicking it *obviously* but still, I questioned myself
-why cant i move any faster? I kick hard, and fast but my movement was still slow.
-why my diving is still slow? presumably the frog kick I got it wrong.
BUt I still need to improve how to do the front crawl.
THIRD DAY
-I started to realize that during flutter kick,
--> POinted toes
--> Straight legs
--> Move only the hips
--> Flexible ankle
-And as for the arms and hands
--> flexible wrist
--> Using the whole arm to sweep in the water
--> CLosing the gaps in our fingers
But the good thing is that I can position my body in the water, something about "finding the centre of buoyancy" and mostly on our chest and to get the legs straight, just force our ass to surface on the water so that we can control our legs.
If it wasnt my cousins idea to play games on water where we threw a swimming goggle in air and we have to race to catch it first and I was an idiot who did the diving the get the google while my cousins did the front crawl LOL But this game forced me to utilise all my learned drills into practice. Imagine I was in danger in the middle of the ocean, how should I survive myself?
FOURTH DAY
Sooooo productive.
You know why?
I can do front crawl now wahahaha All I have to do to put myself in position but IN MY CONSCIOUS MIND ! SO that my body can move naturall in position. And that the fluttering kick is controlled by the hips. The hips do not stay stationary, IT MOVES or shud I say, rotate =D thus
- I maintain the flutter kick
- Gets in position
- Use the arm to guide me through.
OVERALL I NEED TO LEARN
-how to float while standing
-how to do dolphin kick
I JUST HOPE I CAN IMPROVE WITHIN THIS SHORT PERIOD OF TIME !! YEHAAAA
